Scout signs Oracle power agreement for majority output of existing Texas wind farm

Scout announced an October7 virtual power purchase agreement covering most output from its operating 300MW Ranchero Wind Farm. It is a contract for an existing project, not 300MW of new construction.

Scout Clean Energy announced on October 7, 2026 that it signed a virtual power purchase agreement with Oracle for a majority of the output of the 300-megawatt Ranchero Wind Farm in Crockett County, Texas. The announcement does not give an exact contracted share or the contract's price and duration.

Ranchero reached commercial operation in 2019. The agreement therefore concerns an existing generating asset, not a newly completed 300-megawatt addition to the Texas grid. Scout calls it the largest operating renewable-energy project in its portfolio.

Scout says the agreement is part of Oracle's recently announced investment in more than 1.7 gigawatts of renewable-energy projects in Texas. That is a broader portfolio figure, not the capacity of Ranchero or the amount of wind output contracted under this agreement.

The developer estimates Ranchero's annual production is equivalent to the electricity use of 177,000 homes. This is a company-supplied annual energy comparison, not evidence that the project physically supplies those households or delivers uninterrupted electricity to a data center.

Oracle's statement in the release describes a goal of matching all electricity used by its custom AI data centers with carbon-free electricity by 2035. That is a future corporate goal, not a claim that the matching has already been achieved. The announcement supplies no household-bill savings estimate or guarantee of around-the-clock clean power.
